Join us in celebrating the wonderful restoration of the Waterways and Boating Lake on Tuesday 20th August.
The Island Cafe and Boating Lake will be open from 2pm, where you will be able to enjoy a trip out onto the lake in one of the rowing boats or pedalos.
There will be a variety of fun activities available for you to enjoy including music, demonstrations, dance acts, Punch and Judy shows, arts and crafts and heritage walks.

Activities and entertainment are subject to change and availability.
Will there be any boats on the actual Waterways?

A very enjoyable afternoon seeing the newly restored waterways. We were somewhat disappointed that the advertised heritage walks didn’t take place and that few staff seemed to know anything about them. We were told of an illusive Barry Colman who could answer heritage questions, but we didn’t manage to find him, despite asking several event marshals and security of his supposed whereabouts.
Any chance of arranging a heritage walk (and/or talk) on a future date to describe the history?
Thanks!

Hi Ruth, the sculpture was part of a schools project run by Flipside. They worked with artist David Watkinson who designed and installed the art. You can read about the initiative here: https://wordpress.com/post/venetianwaterways.wordpress.com/812
